man. You know I’ve been accused of a lot of things in my life. Even once or twice of being a hipster (yeah I know, “WTF?”). BUt never have I been accused of being “not a true geek” (Even though I now that I am only indirectly indicated).
Fist time for everything I guess. I think I should take this new social standing out for a spin… What says you birthday girl? You are now the epitome of hip.

Dude, totally. We should take that clipping around town and crash all the hippest, swankest joints on its weight.
For the record, I kinda winced at the slamming of Richard Finn, an all around nice guy who actually satrted a con when there was zilch.
On the other hand, he was was only willing to set aside 10 tables for creators–”our kind” and mainstream combined–and we filled 20 and will easily fill 40 next year.
So, ya know…

About that Mercury letter… I went to high school with Erik (and Becca downstairs), and while he was definitely on the cooler side of geeky, he was pretty gothy. Also, she dates herself - the magic card game came out after we graduated. So, um, there. Imagine not being able to conceive of geekiness without that game?
I’m sorry to have missed it - looks like it was great fun. You must simply have another next year!
Jenn Manley Lee resides in Portland, Oregon with her husband Kip Manley and the requisite cats, in a house in its centennial that contains enough books to trip over. Graphic designer by day, she comes home at night and tries to get some art and comics done despite the above distractions.
